January 8, 2011 The Glow

The Perfect color for your skin type

Okay just be honest with yourself, there are several basic skin tones, fair, medium, olive, and if  your lucky a little honey like Halle Barry.
But for those of us not so lucky, pasty white is just not flattering. Unless you have the peaches and cream gene, this one I would rock.

There are lots of options for the perfect glow, the color that makes you look healthy and makes you feel good. I highly advice against indoor tanning beds. Just say no, go on a run, work out get some movement then reach for a healthier better for your skin solution. Your skin will be glad you don't look like a leather handbag.

Airbrush spay tans done in a salon done by a pro with a custom blended color is the way to go. This will last about a week maybe a tad longer $$$.

Instant standing spray tanning booths, you step into a booth and your voice guided while you get sprayed. It's a little cold, not a perfect tan, and if you don't know what your doing you will end up with streaks and orange fingers. This will last about a week. $$

Now for the at home goof proof method, first exfoliate with a sugar or salt scrub and a wash cloth. Dry your body well.
Try this:
Neutrogena Micro Mist spray tan it comes in a little gold can with a spray nozzle that reaches everywhere, you can even close your eyes and mist a little on your face. It comes in two shades light or medium dark. If your looking like casper go for the light and try it out every couple of days. This lasts about 5 days but you can touch it up anytime. $

The key is to be exfoliated, dry, and spray evenly, there is no need to rub. The trick is to blow dry your body front back and  your done.  It isn't smelly, dries fast, and won't stain your clothes. Yes it gets your back the back of your legs. It's like a little airbrush at home, so no orange hands. No streaks. Remember less is more, just a little color.

Then for the final glow get a nice peachy blush, and dust on the apples of your cheeks,  and a little all over your face and a little on your neck. It should look natural.
I like Nars, in Orgasm. Just try it you can buy this at better department stores or Sephora.

I would love to hear a little feedback from those of you who try out the at home method it's fabulous you won't believe what a little color can do to boost your mood.

By the way if you ever mess up at home self tanning, just exfoliate with a good scrub!

I am not mentioning many of the hundreds of at home self tanning creams. They are hard to use don't dry fast, smell horrible, and are not even!

January 3, 2010 30 day beauty fix

Just try this for 30 days, chances are it will become a habit.

1. Start wearing sheer tinted moisturizer with sunscreen. 80% of the sun damage you will receive in your lifetime happens while your walking around doing normal activities, driving in a car, running to the store, not hanging out in Maui.
2. Carry a purse size sunscreen, keep it some where handy and  apply to your hands. Or even touch up your face try Neutrogena dry touch.
3. Go to a Sephora, Ulta or a major department store and ask for samples of tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 15. Try several to get the right level of coverage, and moisture for your skin type. Tip, don't try more than one sample at a time or you won't know how it wears during the day. Or if your skin is going to break out.
16. For the simple no brain er just apply a shot glass worth of sunscreen to your arms legs, hands and face every day. Just don't rub directly over your eyes to avoid stinging. If your a tad lazy get the quick dry no rub sunscreen also from Neutogena.
Next blog will be on self tanning and how to look buttery brown so you can save your skin but still look great.

They Lie! December 15, 2010

They Lie!
Don't be mad. The Cosmetic Industry is a money making business, they are not Doctors without borders.
Many of the so called amazing brands are far from anything other than a gigantic scam, they prey on your stupidity. They are banking on your trust, so they can use cheap chemicals to make their nasty lotions, that are mostly water, wax, emulsifier's and colorants, not fit for a baby or little fido.
Most Cosmetic Companies spend less than $1.00 making your dream cream.
You're the little dummy walking into the store, a sucker for fancy packaging or so called natural products. Just stop being foolish, get educated, become informed, know what the hell you're putting on your skin. Not that most people even bother reading what's in their cheese puffs, I don't care if you bought them at the freaking health food store!

Ingredients are easy to google. Don't be intimidated. Go grab your favorite body lotion, face cream, concealer whatever, see if you can follow along, I am sure a few of these will pop up.
You won't die, you won't grow a third nipple, no you won't lose your memory.

This is a good list, so keep it!

1. SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES often contain phthalates (pronounced THAY-lates), synthetic chemicals commonly used to stabilize fragrances and make plastic more pliable. These endocrine disrupters mimic hormones and may alter genital development. Avoid products that list fragrance as an ingredient unless the label states that it’s derived from essentials oils, or look for a phthalate-free label on the packaging.
2. PARABENS, ubiquitous in skincare, preserve other ingredients and extend a product’s shelf life–but these antimicrobial chemicals also have hormone-disrupting effects.
3. UREAS, formally known as diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, or DMDM hydantoin and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, are preservatives that have the potential to release formaldehyde in very small amounts and are a primary cause of contact dermatitis.
4. 1,4-DIOXANE, a chemical carcinogen, is created when ingredients are processed with petroleum-derived ethylene oxide. Common ethoxylated compounds include sodium laureth sulfate and polyethylene glycol (often listed as PEG). To avoid it, skip any product with the following ingredients: myreth, oleth, laureth, ceteareth (or any other -eth), PEG, polyethylene, polyethylene glycol, polyoxyethylene, or oxynol.
5. PETROCHEMICALS are derived from crude oil. Petroleum-based ingredients such as petrolatum, mineral oil, and paraffin (derived from nonrenewable sources) form a barrier when applied to the skin that does not allow it to breathe and can clog pores.
6. MEA/DEA/TEA are “amines” (ammonia compounds) and can form harmful nitrosamines when they come in contact with nitrates. Used as foaming agents, synthetic stabilizers, and to adjust the pH of cosmetics, they can cause allergic reactions, eye irritation, and dryness of the hair and skin.
7. SULFATES, such as sodium lauryl and sodium laureth, are harsh detergents that give cleansers, soaps, and shampoos their latherability. Often derived from petroleum, sulfates can also come from coconut and other vegetable oils that can be contaminated with pesticides. Sulfates can cause eye irritation and skin rashes.
8. CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS, such as oxybenzone and octylmethoxycinnamate, have been shown to disrupt endocrine activity. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are safer alternatives.
9. QUATS, such as benzalkonium chloride, steardimonium chloride, cetrimonium bromide, and cetrimonium chloride, give a positive charge to conditioners in order to prevent static. They are necessary for conditioners, but we have allowed only the mildest quats in our Beauty With a Conscience standard: guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, hydroxypropyltrimonium oligosaccharide, and SugaQuats.
10. ANTIBACTERIAL COMPOUNDS, such as triclosan and chlorphenesin, do not break down in the environment and may contribute to bacterial resistance.
11. SYNTHETIC POLYMERS, such as sodium polyacrylate and carbomer, come from petroleum and give viscosity to skincare products. They are highly processed and their manufacture creates toxic by-products.
12. SYNTHETIC COLORS are made from coal tar. They contain heavy metal salts that may deposit toxins onto the skin, causing skin sensitivity and irritation. Animal studies have shown almost all of them to be carcinogenic. They will be labeled as FD&C or D&C, followed by a color and a number.
13. CHELATORS, such as disodium EDTA and tetrasodium EDTA, are used in personal care products to remove impurities from low-quality raw materials. They do not readily biodegrade in the environment.
14. NANOS are a new technology with inconclusive but potentially hazardous study results. Research suggests that when tiny nano particles penetrate the skin, they may cause cell damage.
15. ANIMAL TESTING: A grim history of cruelty to animals lies behind many cosmetic ingredients. But scientists are developing new technologies to test cosmetics before a European Union ban on animal testing begins in March 2009.

Don't be fooled-- the above list IS harming your body and the planet. I am just offering information "they" the Cosmetic Industry don't want you to know.

Don't get your undies in a wad, I will provide a list of safe products that will be effective, good for you doesn't have to equal hideous, oily, and strange beauty products.

Sleep 101 December 11, 2010

Sleep, there are two kinds of people sleepers, and insomniacs.

You can't cheat sleep, you will have bags, wrinkles, and look like CRAP!!!!!!!!!
Then you are going to be mean, coffee, diet coke, the non sleepers will rattle off their willy nilly ways. Or they chronically complain how tired they are, or worse how energetic they feel.
Sleepers talk about their sleep in sacred terms, like I need eight hours, or I .......... what go mad, they say I can't function, I get sick, I blah blah blah. Only your Dr. cares about these matters just sayin.

Simple Rules
1. Figure out, how much sleep you need, not how much time you have not if you can or should or any of that dribble. Everyone is different. There is no prize for those who say I only need 4 hours.
2. Napping figure it out, other than the U.S. the rest of the world takes naps....... This means 20 minutes up to one hour longer is SLOTH like unless you are sick, need medical attention dial 911.
3. If you're are wondering if you're a sleeper or not Ambien takers are insomniacs or freaking lazy or really smart remains to be seen. Do not take Ambien unless you plan on taking it the rest of your freaking adult life. Also it can leave you feeling depressed, and tired, which is not
BEAUTIFUL!
4. UP TO DATE YOU KNOW,
AVOID DELETE GROSS PEOPLE FROM YOUR LIFE
DRINK HALF YOUR BODY WEIGHT IN OZ. OF WATER
    GET A GOOD HAIR CUT
FIGURE OUT YOUR SLEEP HABITS, BAGS ARE UGLY
BE BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE YOUR WORTH IT!!!!
